Amazing Grace
Amazing Grace is an incredible movie. For those of you who don't know it is about William Wilberforce and his struggles to end the slave trade in 19th century Britain. It was a very well made film and, even being based on the work of a Christian abolitionist, was neither cheesy nor made a mock of Christians. It is very refreshing to see a movie done like this, and then to reflect on how it is a work of non-fiction; William Wilberforce and John Newton were very much alive, and they very much changed the course of the world because of their firm convictions to Christ, even in the face of unthinkable opposition! Everyone should go see Amazing Grace, and for further reading on the life of William Wilberforce, John Piper has written a book (you can read online for free or buy) that goes along with the movie and also delivered a biographical message on his life and labor in 2002 which can be downloaded in mp3 format for free or read here. Christians should take the time to get to know Wilberforce, and then look beyond him to Christ to possibly change your life to have an impact similar to Wilberforce.
